Approved Restaurant Grade Charcoal For Use In Smoke-Controlled Areas.
Big K Products UK Ltd. is a family run business that has been supplying restaurant quality charcoal, hardwood logs and other solid fuels for over 40 years.
In addition to our national distribution centre in Norfolk, we also operate our own fleet of vehicles from our Tottenham Hale depot in North London. Big K provides a fast and reliable service and can cater for small drop deliveries as well as full pallet loads.
The restaurant market is our speciality and we have the biggest selection of specialist restaurant grade charcoal available from around the world.
The use of charcoal in restaurants has become a matter of concern to both local and borough councils in smoke-controlled areas. While many restaurants have been burning charcoal for a number of years without a problem, the clean air regulations require the use of only authorised fuels when burning charcoal indoors and using a chimney extraction facility. In some cases councils have pursued prosecution and indeed threatened to close restaurants.
Big K have recognised the need to comply with regulations within smoke-controlled areas and proudly announce the introduction of a restaurant grade charcoal that is approved for use in smoke-controlled areas. This, at the time of writing, is the only restaurant grade charcoal to obtain this certification by DEFRA. Any restaurant operating in a smoke-controlled area, such as the Greater London area, can be assured that Big K Restaurant Grade Charcoal will be approved for use by their local council.

Seasoned Hardwood Logs
Last season we replaced our Seasoned Hardwood Logs with a 50:50 mix of FSC hardwood and softwood. As the demand for Pure Hardwood Logs is ever increasing, we are pleased to be in the position to offer again 100% Seasoned Hardwood Logs, which are manufactured from UK hardwood only and will also carry the FSC logo. As last year, there is also the option of a 100% softwood log as an alternative.

Jamie Oliver's The Big Festival
Big K sponsors BBQ team 'Bunch of Swines' in this years British BBQ Society Masters BBQ competitions as part of Jamie Oliver's The Big Festival.
"The event was great with over 20 thousand people going through the gates on Saturday & Sunday with a lot of interest from the public on what we were doing.
In the Competition we managed to come 3rd in the BBQ chicken, 2nd in the BBQ Pork & 1st place in the BBQ beef which was great for us.
Also what was another interesting part which i was unaware of before the event but Jamie Oliver came over the the BBQ competition to do some filming with us for an up coming TV show."
